The Labradorian of Distinction Award, established in 2017 during Canada\u2019s 150th anniversary, is one of Labrador\u2019s highest honours. It was created to recognize individuals whose lives and work have made lasting contributions to both Labrador and Canada, ensuring that the region\u2019s people, leadership, and stories are properly reflected in the nation\u2019s history. The award highlights those whose impact may not always have been widely visible, but has been deeply meaningful and enduring.\n

\nThe award celebrates Labradorians from all walks of life, including Indigenous leaders, public servants, artists, educators, business figures, and community advocates. It is intentionally inclusive, recognizing both living recipients and those honoured posthumously. At its core, the award is about legacy\u2014honouring values such as resilience, service, leadership, and a strong connection to land and community, which together define the spirit of Labrador.<\/p><\/div>\r\n
